SCM For the few that may not be familiar with you and your work can you give us a little bio?
SCOTT- Thanks for having me. I am a bass player vocalist who is most widely known for my membership in the band Tantric. I am now the bass player for Saving Abel. The years I've played for numerous country ask as well as lots of Nashville session work. Most of my career has been as a bass player and songwriter.
SCM Most have heard of you leaving Tantric to join Saving Abel. What would you say were goals that you achieved as part of Tantric?
SCOTT- My goal is a musician is to touch people through song and emotion. TANTRIC was in Avenue and still is an avenue that touches many peoples lives. Hugo has an amazing voice and is an amazing songwriter.I am fortunate enough to have been apart of an organization that has reach so many people.
SCM What do you feel you still had left to do as part of Tantric?
SCOTT-The biggest thing I feel that was left undone is the record that still sits incomplete. We have worked on this record for a number of years and collaborated. It was never completed and all I can do is hope someday people get to hear these pieces of music
SCM We all know an issue like leaving is not something that happens over night.. Was there a point where things started going south that you found yourself just biting your tongue and going along.?
SCOTT-Every band is a family and has its ups and downs. Sometimes the downs feel very difficult and sometimes they're easy to contend with. Leaving a band is like leaving a family not an easy decision and never taken lightly especially by me.
SCM Was Hugo's no show at Brat Fest the straw that broke the camels back.. There were two stories out there.. One being a plane issue and one being he just didnt show. Will you now tell the fans what really happened?
SCOTT-You know the fact of the matter is the band was at the show. Hugo was not... I had set a timeline a year ago February to reanalyze my career with TANTRIC if the business was not in a relevant position. So discussions had already been taking place and picking my life's direction was my main focus after the February date.
SCM -It is pretty well known that you have a history in producing, how different is it to produce your own music vs producing another band? Sunshine Studio has made a name for itself as Colorado Springs Top Live music venue, what makes if the top and what makes it different from other music venues?
SCOTT- I love creation of music and I love using my musical education to compose the best piece of work that I can. Having say in helping someone else create their mark on the timeline of their music is an amazing experience. Are essentially trusting you with their soul. So it's a huge honor to carry out and make a timestamp in someone else's musical memories.
Sunshine Studios Live is an amazing place to see a rock show. We have an indoor stage and an outdoor stage that holds over 2400 people. I like show that's mine blowing and a great staff all located right at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. There is no better vibe. It's avenue for musicians owned by musicians. Christina (my fiancé) has a great business mind and an amazing concept for making the venue rock ! We were voted number one in the Springs for a reason.
Creating my own music it is also an amazing challenge. Sometimes I swing for the fences as far as a musical creation and sometimes I just want to get my feelings out in a melody or a song. It's all fun and luckily I am the guy who makes a living doing just that.
SCM.. Can you tell us a little about Bass Bomb Clothing and the charities you work with? Where can we purchase BB Clothing?
SCOTT-Bass bomb is brand that I created along with my team to use as a giant umbrella for many things. All the way from bass lessons to bass string bracelets made from strings I use on stage. My personal manager has teamed us up with many charities and we use this brand to contribute back to the people who need contributions.
SCM Joining Saving Abel must seem like a pretty easy blend. What are you looking most forward to?
SCOTT-Saving Abel is an amazing group of people. I am excited to collaborate on new music and take the stage with them every night. We have a great time but we also all look at the business aspects together. At the same time we all remember to smile and laugh. Could never ask for a better group of people.
SCM You said that you expected some backlash when you made your statement about leaving Tantric, have you had to deal with any?
SCOTT-Yes of course. There are a few people who or upset that I left the group. However most people who have followed the band for a long time understood. I will always love TANTRIC's music and support the brand, TANTRIC is a vessel that music travels in and I was for today enough to help sail this vessel and be a part of the great music.
SCM Is there a final thought you would like to get off your mind as we bring this interview to an end???
SCOTT- I would really love to think everyone for reading this article. Remember if you get to come to the Saving Abel show or Sunshine Studios live come say hey. I love to meet new people and hear how music affects their life. Thank you so much for the support to all that have stood beside me and continue to.
